Debemos dejar el carbon, si queremos prevenir una catastrofe climatológica.
Shut in Down! es un movimiento popular de desobediencia civil.
El 26 de Septiembre de 2009, cientos de personas clausuraron una planta energética cuyo combustible es el carbón. De esta forma, la población civil usando la desobediencia, llamo la atención a los políticos y a la ciudadanía mundial.
Destaca el Manifiesto “Shut in down”: El 26 de Septiembre se cerrará una de las mayores plantas energéticas de carbón de Dinamarca. Aun sabiendo la toxicidad de esta forma de conseguir energía, Dinamarca continúa quemando grandes cantidades de carbón en centrales convencionales. El Gobierno Danés pretende abandonar la quema de carbón sin planes políticos para reducir la cantidad de energía consumida. El Gobierno Danés opta por continuar con su política de contaminación a costa de engordar su cuota de mercado, el Gobierno Danés deja totalmente de lado los principios del Desarrollo Sostenible, optando por la irresponsabilidad del “aquí y ahora” [...]
[...] Los problemas ambientales globales no pueden resolverse a través de acciones individuales es necesaria una fuerte acción colectiva. Las empresas y los fabricantes deben estar sujetos a un control democrático mundial. [...]

Coal is the single-most climate damaging fossil fuel. Instead of burning coal in conventional power plants we must leave the coal in the ground. On 26th September we will shut down one of the largest coal power plants in Denmark.
Despite the existing knowledge on the toxicity of coal power, Denmark continues to burn huge quantities in conventional power stations. The Danish government recently abandoned the coal stop policy, but has no plans to reduce the amount of electricity produced from coal. The quota market provides a tool to the Danish government to not making realistic plans to ban fossil fuels from Denmark. The quota market as a problem by itself allows keeping our decadent and polluting way of life, but purchasing CO2 certificates in developing countries at the same time. We will no longer accept that the elites prioritise short-term profit, rather than global interests of our planet.
The market can not prevent climate catastrophe
Energy production at market conditions is subject to maximisation of profits, regardless of the adverse consequences for the environment.
To maintain the market and profit generating system the industry desperately builds castles in the sky such as CarbonCaptureStorage (CCS). This serves exclusively the purpose to divert attention away from the necessary structural changes.
The market individualises solutions to environmental problems by inventing and selling environmentally friendly and organic products. The responsibility is placed on individual shoulders and the focus is moved away from community. Global environmental problems can not be solved through individual actions – and the failure of the political role of consumers has been proved for many years.
There is a strong need for collective action.
Companies and manufacturers should be subject to global democratic control. Production must be redesigned in a way that it does not harm the environment. The structure of societies and their infrastructure must undergo radical alternations that respect the challenges of climate change.
The economical growth and profit greed has to be stopped by political change. The state and the industry must be forced to curb climate catastrophe by enabling environmental overgrowth.
Environment overgrowth
Today, almost the entire of human induced CO2 was emitted by industrial countries. However, it is the people living in the poorest countries who pay the price for it. The rich countries’ wealth is based on the exploitation of global resources and pollution of the atmosphere. The selfish plundering of common resources must be stopped. Fossil fuels must be left in the ground and coal power plants need to be closed one by one. On 26 September, the first step will be done, closing down the Amagerværket coal power station.
Today, we have the ability to move away from the suicidal madness of constant growth. Tomorrow, when we all become accustomed to the new green capitalism, the chance will be gone.

Den 26. september lukker vi et af Danmarks alt for mange kulkraftværker. Kul er det mest klimaskadelige brændsel overhovedet, derfor skal det blive i jorden og ikke brændes af på vores kraftværker!
På trods af den eksisterende viden om kul, fortsætter Danmark med at forbrænde enorme mængder, og regeringen har ingen planer om at stoppe dette. Med kvotemarkedet har den danske regering fået endnu en undskyldning, for ikke at få lavet en realistisk plan, for udfasningen af fossile brændsler i Danmark. For ordner kvotemarkedet ikke problemet af sig selv, kan der altid sættes gang i et par CO2-reducende projekter i et tredjeverdensland, for at undgå ændringer af den magelige og stærkt forurenende livsstil herhjemme.
Derfor er vi nødsaget til at handle nu, vi vil ikke længere accepterer at den globale elite vælger kortsigtet økonomisk vækst, frem for hensynet til vores alle sammens klode
Markedet kan ikke stoppe klimakatastrofen
Energiproduktion på markedsvilkår er betinget af profitbehov og energiproducenternes interesse er at tjene mest muligt, uanset hvilke skadelige konsekvenser det har for miljøet.
For at fastholde det markedsbaserede og profitskabende system finder industrien på desperate tiltag; såsom CCS og lignende urealistiske luftkasteller. Tiltag der udelukkende har til formål at fjerne fokus fra de nødvendige strukturelle ændringer.
Markedet individualiserer løsningerne på miljøproblemerne ved at opfinde og sælge miljøvenlige og økologiske varer, så ansvaret lægges over på den enkelte og fokus fjernes fra det fælles ansvar. De globale miljøproblemer kan ikke løses gennem individuelle handlinger – og ideen om den politiske forbrugers rolle, må efter mange års fiasko, henvises til historiens losseplads!
Der er brug for kollektive handlinger.
Virksomheder og producenter skal underlægges global demokratisk kontrol, og produktionen skal omlægges så den ikke skader miljøet. Samfundenes indretning og infrastruktur skal gennemgå en forandringsproces, så det passer til klimaudfordringerne.
Gennem politiske forandringer skal vækst- og profitbegæret stoppes, og stater og virksomheder skal tvinges til at standse klimakatastrofen, ved at sætte miljø over vækst! Miljø over vækst.

Historisk set, er næsten al CO2-udledning kommet fra de rige lande, mens det er de fattigste lande, der betaler prisen. De rige landes velstand bygger på overudnyttelse af de globale ressourcer og forurening af den fælles atmosfære. Denne egoistiske rovdrift, på de fælles ressourcer skal stoppes. De fossile brændsler skal blive i jorden og alle kulkraftværker skal lukkes, et efter et. Den 26. september er det Amagerværkets tur.
I dag har vi muligheden for at komme videre, fra, det selvmorderiske vanvid af konstant vækst. I morgen, hvor vi alle er blevet vant til den nye grønne kapitalisme, vil chancen være væk.
